The Abarth is now also electric

Update: 22.11.2022 20:05

There are few car brands anymore that do not offer fully electric models. Their number decreased again after the introduction of the Abarth 500e.

This producer of sports versions of a number of models of Italian brands also this time came out of the type offered by Fiat.

Compared to the hatchback Fiat 500e, however, the Abarth 500e has a more powerful electric motor by 38 horsepower (it reaches 155 of these units) and instead of 220 Newton meters of torque in the car with the Fiat logo, it has 235.

This improved the acceleration value from zero to 100 by a full two seconds. The Abarth sprints to 100 km/h in a solid seven seconds.

This is already a comparable figure with the Abarth 695 model, which is powered by a turbocharged 14-liter with 180 horsepower, and which has an acceleration of 0-100 in 6.7 seconds.

However, according to the press release of the car manufacturer, this model surpasses the Abarth 500e in terms of flexible acceleration. For example, it goes from 20 to 40 in just one second, and from 40 to 56 kilometers per hour in another second and a half. In this second parameter, it is a full second better than the Abarth 695 type.

Of course, work was also done to improve the driving characteristics. Therefore, among other interventions, the wheel track was widened by six centimeters and the wheelbase was also extended.

Abarth has not yet published the range. Inside, however, is the same battery as in the Fiat 500e, which has a capacity of 42 kWh. Recharging is possible with a power of up to 85 kW.

The equipment of the most expensive version will include, for example, sports seats, a JBL audio system and an artificial sound generator. In addition to the hatchback variant, the Abarth 500e will also be offered as a convertible.
