The Abarth 500e is in its element in the city – Auto-Motor

Not only on the race track, but also in the natural environment of the Abarth 500e, on city roads, the battery-electric version promises a greater driving experience, as the center of mass is low and the track is wide, and due to the immediate torque, the novelty also fulfills acceleration commands more quickly.

The electric car accelerates from 20 to 40 km/h in half the time, plus the driver does not even have to worry about switching back, the 500e has an advantage of 1.5 seconds compared to the 595 when sprinting from 40 to 60 km/h. Added to this is the fact that the center of mass is lower due to the wider track and the battery installed under the floor – all of which compensate for the disadvantages resulting from greater mass.

The power of the electric motor driving the front wheels is 155 HP/235 Nm in Scorpion Street mode, which is enough for a 7-second 0-100 km/h sprint, in which case the engine braking effect is strong. In Tourismo mode, 136 hp/220 Nm are available to the driver, in which case progress is smoother and more economical. One-pedal driving can be activated in these two modes, i.e. the Abarth 500e slows down to a stop when you step off the gas. Then there is the Scorpion Track mode, when consumption takes a back seat and the car delivers maximum performance. The battery with a capacity of 42 kWh is the same as the Fiat 500e, and it also has the option of receiving 85 kW of lightning charging, but the Abarth 500e has a higher consumption, so the standard range is 250 km.

The sound experience is important for the Abarth brand, the external speakers emit guitar sounds by default, the AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System) sound generator is available at an additional cost, which improves the driving experience with a rumble reminiscent of the sound of the gasoline model; and getting in and out, as these models play a guitar sound when the door is opened and closed.

In the next period, the petrol-engined 595/695 and 500e models will be available at Abarth in parallel, and for the market introduction of the latter, a series limited to 1,949 units called Scorpionissima is being prepared. The 18-inch rims, glass roof, steel pedals, dedicated dashboard and sill cover make the appearance special, as well as the fact that it can only be chosen in Poison Blue or Acid Green. In the interior, Acid Green decorative stitching is always used on the Alcantara upholstery, and a Poison Blue ring on the steering wheel indicates the center position.
