The 5 Best Android Apps and Games of the Week (Edition #51 2021)

Puzzle with your voice, always green traffic lights and a new app for Android TVs. These are the best Android apps and games from last week.

Read on after the ad.

1st swing

The Netherlands is a cycling country and Schwung is cleverly responding to that. With this app you get a green light faster (and more often). Schwung lets connected traffic lights know you’re coming so that they jump from red to green at just the right time. This allows you to reach your destination earlier.

Via a map in the app you can see exactly where the ‘smart’ traffic lights are. If you choose, Schwung will start automatically the moment you cycle and let traffic lights on your route know you’re coming. You do not have to actively use the app while cycling. For the time being, Schwung is only available in a handful of places.

2. One Hand Clapping

At first glance, One Hand Clapping is a straightforward platformer, but looks can be deceiving. You control the game with your voice. You can solve all kinds of puzzles by singing or humming into your microphone.

For example, to jump from platform A to platform B you must first sing high, then low and finish by holding one pitch. Aside from the unique controls, One Hand Clapping is a soothing, colorful puzzle game. We do find the game a bit pricey.

DINA

The Google Play Store is full of weather apps, so what makes DINA so special? The answer is simple: a personal twist. DINA not only tells you what the weather forecast is, but also how to dress for it. The app takes into account all kinds of personal characteristics such as gender, weight and skin color.

DINA indicates whether today it is better to wear a thick sweater, to work with layers or whether thick shoes are advisable. The app uses machine learning and is therefore continuously improving.

4. Sleepin’ Guy

Another puzzle game. In Sleepin’ Guy you have only one task: make sure that the main character wakes up. This puzzle game takes place entirely in the mind of a sleeping, big guy who is not mentioned by name. The Sleepin’ Guy just can’t wake up.

Until you come by. In 25 levels you get the chance to take the main character out of his dream world. You do this not only by solving puzzles, but also, for example, by throwing (dream) objects or making the sleeping giant burp.

5. FLauncher

Do you have an Android TV? Then try FLuncher. This ‘launcher app’ allows you to customize the home screen of an Android TV set-top box. You can, among other things, adjust categories, choose a different wallpaper or place more/less apps in a row. Also cool: it is possible to place a shortcut to the settings screen.

FLauncher is currently under development, but can already be downloaded from the Play Store. However, the maker warns for the possible presence of bugs. During testing, we did not encounter any strange things.
