The 4 Best Android Apps and Games of the Week (Edition #45 2021)

Easily start your own farm, skateboard without falling and a new kind of Zelda game. These are the best Android apps and games from last week.

Read on after the ad.

1. FarmVille

FarmVille: who doesn’t know it? You are at the helm of a farm in this family-friendly game. Almost ten years after Part 2 came out, fans have been able to get started with FarmVille 3 since last week. The latest installment is quite similar to its predecessors, with one big difference. You can now breed animals.

So when you put two animals of the same species together, you have a chance of having foals or piglets. Apart from this addition, FarmVille 3 mainly deals with the well-known tasks. You water plants, feed animals and make sure the farm runs smoothly. Since the game is basically free, you will be regularly reminded that you can make in-app purchases.

2. Sparklite

Attention Zelda fans. As of this week you can download Sparklite. This adventure game is quite similar to Zelda. Not only the graphic style matches, but also the gameplay. In Sparklite you are not only busy with defeating enemies, but also with solving puzzles.

That’s easier said than done, by the way, because the difficulty of the game is quite tough. The enemies are easy to defeat in the beginning, but later in Sparklite you really have to work to make bosses smaller. The game temporarily costs 4.99 euros, 30 percent cheaper than normal.

3. FoodFirst

Before you know it, we will be in 2022. Are you planning to eat healthier next year? You can start with that now, for example by downloading FoodFirst. This app was developed by Albert Heijn and tries to make you live healthier, including by eating and drinking better.

For example, do you drink a lot of soft drinks? Then you can take on a challenge to drink less sugar. The app then offers you alternative drinks. The challenges and recipes in FoodFirst have been developed in collaboration with nutrition experts and coaches. It is a pity that there is currently no option to only enter vegetarian recipes (or challenges) with the app, for example, but FoodFirst is otherwise a nice app to play with.

4. The Ramp

The Ramp came out for PC a few years ago and is now also available on Android. In this game you have no fear, because you immediately step on a skateboard to perform all kinds of tricks. You control the skater by moving your thumb and this works surprisingly well.

If you want, you can also connect a controller. The nice thing about The Ramp is that the game is purely about fun. There are no missions to complete and scores are not kept. You can play the first level for free, but after that you have to buy the full version.
