That’s right, this form is not true… – BMW iX3 test – Car Engine

On the one hand, fleet consumption regulations and, on the other hand, there is a lot of pressure on car manufacturers today to launch their electric vehicles as soon as possible. BMW did not expect a model update scheduled for this summer, but introduced its iX3 electric motorhome earlier this year. Now, in September 2021, orders will be placed for the updated model, the first copies of which will arrive from China before the end of the year. The test car is still from the first series, but no substantial change has taken place.

In the foreground the electric car, in the background the Danube Refinery. They exist side by side for a while…

BMW has launched the electric car as the first premium manufacturer to excel in the role of the second or third car in the i3, with Bavarians somewhat lagging behind their competitors in terms of models for the first car. Due to the space required by the battery, the mid-range X3 RV has been used as a basis, with the exception of the blue trim, the difference in interior design is that the luggage compartment floor is higher, reducing the capacity by 40 liters – the 510-liter should not be ashamed of the car. With a gross battery capacity of 80 and a net capacity of 74 kWh, its own weight exceeds 2.2 tonnes, so despite the 286-horsepower power rolling over the paper and the 400 Nm of torque that can be drawn immediately, the experience of acceleration is not explosive; it is true that this is more due to the particularly fine regulation. Only the rear-wheel drive engine – in the nose of the car under the large blanket we see its cool place – but there is no fuss, we don’t get to the point where the stabilizer has to intervene, this is also true in Sport mode. We drive smoothly and dynamically, although the engine noise has disappeared, but no new noises have come, the suspension comfort is also good, as the body is more inert due to the large and heavy battery. This can also be felt in fast corners, precise steering, good handling, but due to the heavy weight, the iX3 tends to move towards the outer curve of the bend.

There is space, there is no drive motor in the nose of the car. One gets the same indulgence as in the other X3s, but the passenger compartment is quieter. Higher floors and a charging cable bag rob you of liters from the trunk

And follow the most important question, “How much do you consume?” The answer to “How much is it going?” instead of 400,000: The range according to the WLTP standard is 460 km, but to achieve this you have to drive sparingly, consumption on the highway is already jumping at a speed of 130 km / h. From the wall charger (11 kW power), the iX3 can receive 7.5 hours of charging time at 100%, up to 150 kW lightning. The car’s success may be most limited by in-house competition, as the X3’s 30e plug-in hybrid drive is 3.54 million cheaper and comes with a green license plate. Looking at other brands, we can’t find approx. 300-horsepower electric motorhomes, rivals voted for all-wheel drive and 408-horsepower system performance, the HUF 2.5-3.5 million surcharge is about 10%, which is negligible in this price category.

SONY DSCNot worth leaving the built-in infrastructure, all-wheel drive is not even at an additional cost, the battery is down there

I LIKED IT
• smooth operation
• driveability
• range
I DID NOT LIKE
• You can feel the behavior of a large crowd

SUMMARY
With the iX3, BMW seems to have flown in the saddle, inside the salon we find the X3 30e 10% cheaper, we get all-wheel drive and 408 horsepower 10% more expensive than the competition, and the fans are not the i, but they choose from the M sub-brand offer. Too bad we got to know a very fine-working electric car in the iX3 before the upgrade.
