Niu unveiled two electric scooters and an electric motorcycle at the EICMA trade fair, located in Milan. The most ambitious of two-wheelers relies on top speed and acceleration, which is new to him.
In the electric two-wheeler segment, Niu is a brand that counts and, by extension, that we follow closely. It even knows how to be astonishing, like the NQi GTS Sport scooter – which we would not have thought so powerful on the test. On the occasion of the EICMA show in Milan, the company is logically full of announcements with three new products: the MQi GT Evo and NQi GTS scooters, and the RQi Sport motorcycle.
In his press release published on November 23, Niu logically puts forward the new MQi GT Evo, a scooter that relies on speed to convince. To achieve this, the engineers developed a powerful new motor – the most powerful they have ever created, at the Niu scale (5 kW, which is nothing new from the competition). The result is a top speed of 100 km / h and a passage from 0 to 60 km / h timed in 6 seconds.
Three new electric two-wheelers at Niu
Despite the on-board power, the MQi GT EVO manages to offer a decent range, which relies on two removable batteries to reach 85 kilometers. A full charge will only take four hours of your time, while ten kilometers can be recovered in about twenty minutes.
The technical sheet of the scooter is completed by the keyless start function, the electronic anti-theft device, the sharing of a digital key via the application or the color dashboard.
The MQi GT EVO will be available from March 1, 2022, at a price of 4,999 €, a competitive price for a true 125 equivalent, which brings it closer to the Rider 5000.
Small changes for the NQi GTS, which will go a little faster
Less ambitious and more accessible (€ 4,199), the NQi GTS will still inherit certain evolutions in its 2022 version. A new engine will allow it to reach a top speed of 80 km / h (10 km / h more than the NQi GTS Sport) with, again, a preserved range (70 kilometers). It will also be equipped with the same on-board screen as the MQi GT EVO. The launch is also scheduled for March 1, 2022.
The RQi Sport, Niu’s long-awaited electric motorcycle
Expected for July 1 of the same year, the RQi Sport motorcycle is finally revealed in the final version. Delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, it had been presented at CES 2020, which is starting to date. Urban, the RQi Sport was originally intended to reach a top speed of 160 km / h. This ambition has been reduced, to 110 km / h once we engage the boost mode.
« We wanted to give riders an insane amount of torque without compromising range for normal commuting, and this mode is our best answer. », Explains Niu. In short, the RQi Sport is designed to squeeze in with ease. The centrally placed engine is powered by two removable 36 Ah batteries, for an estimated range of 110/120 kilometers. For added security, the motorcycle is equipped with cameras at the front and rear. The price ? € 6,999.
