Thai goalkeeper Komang Teguh in the 2023 SEA Games Final suspended for 6 months

Suara.com – Thailand national team goalkeeper Soponwit Rakyart suspended for 6 months, banned from playing in the Thai national team for hitting Indonesian U-22 national team player Komang Teguh Trisnanda in the 2023 SEA Games final.

The sentence was handed down by the Thai Football Association.

“The Thai FA has banned three U-22 Thai national team coaching staff who were involved in a brawl in the 2023 SEA Games final for a year,” said a statement by Thai League Central.

Referee Kassem Matar Al-Hatmi, who saw the incident, then gave red cards to both players and sent them both off the field.

The U-22 Indonesian national team came out as champions after defeating Thailand with a score of 5-2. Meanwhile, Thai players and officials who acted riotously were banned from working with the national team.

“In addition, two U-22 Thai players, namely Soponwit Rakyart and Thirapak Prueangna, were suspended from national team duty for six months,” wrote Thai League Central.

The U-22 Indonesian national team won the 2023 SEA Games gold medal after defeating Thailand in the 5-2 final match at the Olympic Stadium, Tuesday (16/5/2023). Indonesia’s victory was not easy because they had to go through a drama match that lasted 120 minutes.

The goals for the U-22 Indonesian national team were scored by Ramadhan Sananta (21′, 45+6), Irfan Jauhari (94′), Fajar Fathur Rahman (107′), and Beckham Putra (120′).
