Tesla’s servers went down for a while, the drivers didn’t join the cars

Modern times often want modern solutions. But sometimes it can be treacherous, as at least hundreds of electric car owners have seen over the weekend Tesla. These cars can be unlocked in several ways, using for example a remote control keychain or a card with an RFID chip, however, some owners choose a more modern way using a telephone. But it was the one that got away with the drivers during this weekend (on Friday to Saturday according to the time zone, because the outage was worldwide). Tesla’s servers were unavailable for a while, which frightened many drivers because they could not connect to their cars.

However, an Internet connection is usually not required to unlock the car. Normally, it is possible to unlock and start the car via Bluetooth even when Tesla’s servers are not working (thanks to pairing the car and the phone via BT, of course, other additional functions that require an internet connection in the application will not work). However, this does not apply to all cars and in some it is necessary to use unlocking directly through the application, which, however, may not be final. It is, after all, logical if it was necessary to always have an internet connection when using the application, then it would not be possible to get into the car whenever it was in a place where there is no signal (and that there are such places). If a person has not logged out of the application, it can still be used. Which you usually don’t check out.

But when a person is unlucky and everything comes together at the same time, he does not have a keychain or a card and uses a phone to unlock (for a car that does not support direct unlocking via Bluetooth outside the application), is logged out of the application and the server crashes. . Part of the users’ logout from the application was probably due to the fact that shortly before that an update of the Tesla application was released, which wanted to log in to the system again. Which didn’t work because of the crashed servers. Musk promised to fix it on Twitter, and the servers were up and running again in a moment. He also promised to make amends so that a similar incident would not happen.
