Tesla will build a battery plant in Canada

Frank Scarpitti, the mayor of Markham in southern Ontario, Canada, has announced that Tesla plans to build a new plant in the city that will produce part of the 4,680 batteries.

As he wrote on Twitter:

We are pleased to share that Tesla Canada is part of our already strong automotive and technology ecosystem, creating a production unit in the city of Markham.

The plant will be Tesla Canada’s first branded plant in the country and will produce state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment to be used in Gigafactories around the world.

Tesla is currently manufacturing the 4,680 batteries at its plant in Fremont, California, and plans to begin production at its upcoming plants in Texas and Berlin.
