Tesla has delivered the first electric Semi trucks

Tesla delivered the first Semi electric trucks at the end of last week, the host of the event being Elon Musk himself. These are a few trucks that were delivered to Pepsi, a company known to have ordered several hundred such vehicles.

“I would like to thank the teams at the Gigafactory Nevada and the Semi Truck team for their efforts,” Elon Musk said at the start of this event, according to Top Gear. Even though production of the Semi trucks has been delayed several times, the start of deliveries marks an important moment for the company owned by the new head of Twitter.

The Semi electric truck should have been launched as early as 2019, but the American company was put in a position to postpone the start of production several times. In the end, things went in the right direction, and in October Tesla already announced the event we are talking about in these lines. At the same time, several copies of Tesla Semi trucks could be seen on the roads of the United States in the last three months.

It has no competition in terms of autonomy

On the day of the event, Tesla officials released the results of a real-world traffic test that confirmed the Semi has a range of about 800 kilometers (500 miles). Thus, we are talking about a value that is much higher than that of the other electric trucks currently available on the market.

The Semi trucks have two battery options, one offering a range of 480 kilometers and another of 800 kilometers. From a technical point of view, Tesla Semi trucks are still capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in about 20 seconds. In addition, the announced energy consumption is very low, of approximately 124 kWh for traveling a distance of 100 kilometers.
