Terrible criminals at large? An overcrowded center in Gostynin – Criminal law

The center in Gostynin, one of the first patients of which was Mariusz Trynkiewicz, is overcrowded and will not accept new patients, reveals the Onet portal. This means that the Polish state has lost its ability to isolate former criminals from society, who, according to the court, may pose a threat to the health and life of other people after being released.

According to the portal Onet.pl, an unequivocal decision on this matter was taken by the center in Gostynin, which have been struggling with the problem of overcrowding of patients for several years. Currently, there are as many as 91 former convicts, although according to the government’s decree, the institution can only accommodate 60 people.

The portal reminds that the center located in Gostynin (usually called wrongly and against human rights as “center for the beast”) is visited by the most dangerous criminals (although other cases are known) from all over Poland, who have ended their sentences, but according to the court they can threaten the life and health of other people.

Next Friday, a trial will be held in a Szczecin court in the case of a man who is ending his sentence for a sexual offense. The judges are to decide whether the ex-convict will go free or, due to his high probability of committing a violent crime, will continue to be isolated from society.

However, the letter from the director of the center to the District Court in Szczecin, which Onet reached, shows that, regardless of the sentence, the man will not be admitted to Gostynin. So he will be released.

Onet.pl reports that the government has known about such a threat for a long time. On January 31, the Ministry of Justice informed the Ministry of Justice about the suspension of admissions to Gostynin.
