Teodorović: Faculty of Civil Engineering lit a torch in a tunnel called metro (VIDEO) – Society

“It is important that the institutions, defending their professional part, rebel against the subway plan, which is catastrophic. The Faculty of Civil Engineering has done something that is unthinkable now, because this regime has killed the critical consciousness at the University of Belgrade and a large number of people do not have the courage for such a thing. The Faculty of Civil Engineering lit a torch in a tunnel called the metro “, pointed out Dušan Teodovorić, a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), whose specialty is traffic, in Danas’ column” Online Interview “.

Teodorovic is talking about the project of building a subway in Belgrade, which he is talking about also wrote a feuilleton which was published in the previous days in the newspaper Danas, said that insisting on the opinion of the profession is necessary in this case, as the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade stood behind the common position that the project is not good.

– I also invite the Faculty of Transportation, the Faculty of Mining and Geology, the Faculty of Architecture and all other technical faculties in this country to unite and express their opinion on this project. They would have to say “no, the concept is wrong, the professional part does not allow us to participate in this project”. I know that this will not stop Vučić and this government, but at least we will be able to defend our part and have evidence when we try them. We will be able to say – you were part of a joint venture that was guided by personal interests – the academic pointed out.

Teodorovic pointed out that the opinion of the profession was stifled and that the academic community should be much more open in defending its professional views, recalling the 1990s when the University of Belgrade was united on the issue of removing the then president of SFRY.

– Then, 31 faculties made the decision to demand the resignation of Slobodan Milosevic, and the rector left and asked Milosevic to resign – he pointed out.

The trigger to personally announce the negative aspects of the subway project in Belgrade, as Teodorovic says, was that it is the largest infrastructure project planned in Serbia – it is an irreversible project, which once realized can not be changes, has a great impact on the environment and the quality of traffic services, and according to the existing plan, it will not be in the service of citizens, but of private interests, as our interlocutor says.

– Since I saw that politics and dirty interests were involved, I had to react. It happened without any agreement with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, but I want to praise my colleagues who are together on the defense of the construction profession. This is such a wrong concept that, if it is stopped at any moment, it is better than going for realization – he stated.

Teodorović added that he had to announce himself publicly because no one from the city government ever asked him for his opinion, regardless of his expertise in this area.

– Regardless of the fact that I am a member of SANU, regardless of the fact that we may think differently politically, no one from the Assembly of Belgrade ever invited me to give an opinion for at least a minute, and a person does not go uninvited – he said.

A combination of government and private investors is killing drinking water

Teodorovic pointed out that a particularly harmful aspect of this project is that construction is planned near the Makis water source, and that, although it is not his area of expertise, he believes experts who have previously indicated that this could lead to catastrophic consequences for drinking water in Belgrade. .

– We will kill drinking water, but no one pays attention to that because there is a private interest, just as there was a private interest in Belgrade on water, the same thing with the subway. It is obvious that there is a connection between the government and private investors and in any normal state a light would be lit for the police and the prosecution to investigate, but here they are also part of the ruling party – he stressed.

Teodorovic says that it would be in the interest of the “normal” city government in Copenhagen or Toronto for citizens to be able to function in traffic.

– In our country, this proposal of the metro line network unequivocally shows that it is in the interest of this mafia government only to stay in power, to get rich and to meet private interests. It is clear that it will always agree in one policy that they take care of our children, but anything they do shows the exact opposite – said Teodorović.

He commented on how Aja Jung, in the SNS campaign for the Belgrade elections in 2018, took pictures with metro tickets, and pointed out that even now, before the Belgrade elections, the story about the metro is starting again.

– The intention to speed things up before the elections is obvious. PR agencies say you use the word “metro” and I have not the slightest dilemma that Aleksandar Vucic will come to take pictures at every metro hole. These are fraudsters whose only interest is to stay in power, because if they do not stay, they must go to prison – said Teodorović.

Faculty of Medicine to take stronger measures

Responding to questions and comments from readers, the academician pointed out that there was a “tragic little light” at the Faculty of Medicine, which he believes should publicly appeal to members of the medical staff of the Crisis Staff to leave the body if any decision is made. not supported by the profession.

– The situation would change in one day when 100 professors of the Faculty of Medicine would sign and come out publicly with the position – we do not allow measures to be applied in this way in the fight against the pandemic, you are murderers. And the killers are only because they do not want to lose a single vote in the elections, because the measures are unpopular – stated Teodorović.
