Telenor is the first telecommunications company in the Nordic region to enter into a partnership with Microsoft on Operator Connect, which integrates companies’ telephony into Teams in a new and more flexible way.
Operator Connect makes it easy for the administrator to add users to the solution and ensures redundancy so companies can use Teams as their full telephony platform.
Telenor is the first operator in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland to enter into a partnership with Microsoft for Operator Connect, which is Microsoft’s latest bid for a solution for integrating call functionality into Teams. With Operator Connect, companies can choose their own operator to handle calls in Teams, and users can call both colleagues and all other numbers via the Teams client on their PC and mobile. As something new, the administrator also gets the opportunity to assign Telenor numbers to the company’s users directly in the administrator module.
“Our partnership with Microsoft basically means that our business customers get a Teams solution with significantly less complexity and far more flexibility. Users can now set up telephony and switching groups in Teams according to the company’s and employee’s needs, thus avoiding the hassle of advanced programming. Telephony, online meetings and file sharing become simpler when it can all be done on one and the same application, ”says Mikkel Kruse, Business Director at Telenor.
A safe line
Operator Connect also adds a higher level of reliability to Teams through the Microsoft Azure Peering Service. The integration means that the traffic will always be routed the best and fastest way through the network and thus, for example, avoid hubs with a lot of traffic, which can otherwise mean delays. Telenor’s business customers will have that advantage over Teams when Microsoft’s platform is combined with Telenor’s telephony.
“Microsoft is visionary when it comes to communication and collaboration tools. In the business world, we see that reliable home workplaces are in demand. The partnership with Microsoft is one of the few of its kind in Denmark, and the dynamics between the parties contribute to us being able to offer a more integrated and reliable solution for the workplaces of the future, ”says Mikkel Kruse from Telenor.
