The Tampa International Airport in Florida USA (TPA) upgrades the services for passengers with special needs, in order to make the travel experience more pleasant and comfortable. Two new initiatives have recently been launched:

Sunflower tag – Helps airport staff and port police identify and assist those suffering from spectrum disorders, such as autism, or other “hidden” disabilities. A common initiative in Europe, Seattle, Minneapolis and other US airports.

The badges or stickers are provided free of charge at the customer service and information desks at the Central Terminal, on the 3rd floor.

Electric Wheelchair Service (Whill) – The venture is now operating as a free pilot until December 10, 2021. The service is another tier of the recognized service provided by the airlines, by prior reservation, to passengers in need of wheelchair assistance and is designed to provide mobility and independence to passengers. Currently, 15 wheelchairs operate at the airport. Guest Experience representatives are at the passenger service with explanation and help.

“We are excited to offer this service in order to give our passengers as much independence as possible,” he said Daniel Glennon , Director of Terminal Operations and Guest Experience at Tampa International Airport. ”
