Tamima’s ex-husband’s writ on digitalisation of marriage and divorce

Cricketer Nasir’s wife Tamima Sultana Tammi’s ex-husband Rakib Hasan has filed a writ petition in the High Court. He asked why the writ should not be directed to digitize marriage and divorce registration to protect respect for divorce and to save family life.

The writ petition was filed on Thursday on behalf of three persons and an organization including the victim Rakib Hasan. The other protesters are Sohag Hossain, Kamrul Hasan and Aid for Man Foundation.

In the writ petition, the law secretary, information and technology secretary, religion secretary and BTRC chairman have been named as defendants.

Earlier on February 22, a notice was sent to the concerned people asking for instructions to digitize marriage and divorce registration to prevent fraud. Advocate Ishrat Hasan sent the notice on behalf of three individuals and an organization, including Rakib Hasan, the ex-husband of cricketer Nasir’s newly married wife Tamima Sultana Tammi.
