The Fidesz politician threw in a range of irrefutable counter-arguments on the subject of budget control: pushing for war, child protection, coddling migrants, gender, Gyurcsány.

According to MTI, Tamás Deutsch, head of the European Parliament group of Fidesz, assessed the visit of the European Parliament’s budget control committee to Budapest as part of Brussels’ political pressure at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday. He also stated that the board is not a superior body of Hungary, so it does not divide or multiply what it does.

Tamás Deustch was shocked and explained that the committee had investigated Budapest for the third time since 2010, unprecedented in the EU, and that they had come again to increase “political pressure” so that Hungary could be forced, “squeezed” into the war in Ukraine. In addition, he continued, Brussels also does not like the fact that the citizens of Hungary said no to illegal migration in a referendum, and that Hungary adopted a “very strict package of child protection laws”, saying no to the sexualization of minors. On the other hand, Brussels expects a “migrant-loving” position from the member states, and would make “gender ideological madness” a behavior to be followed, a normality in Europe.

“On the other hand, we say: no war, no migration, no gender. We are not willing to give in to this,” he explained (like Viktor Orbán, he was not bothered by the fact that the term “no gender” actually means “no gender”, i.e. it essentially declares gender neutrality – ed.).

Tamás Deutsch indicated that the European Parliament and none of its specialized committees are Hungary’s superior body, not an authority that makes binding decisions. That is why they do not accept the procedure in which representatives of the European Parliament of other countries travel here from Brussels and “tell the Hungarian citizens what to do and how to do it”. He added that “more respect” is expected from all members of the European Parliament, including members of the budget control committee. He also stated that he does not divide or multiply, which he did in the framework of “political pressure” by the committee. According to him, the experience of the past few days is that the members are not interested in the “facts”. And the Hungarians are not interested in the committee’s lies, slip-ups, and accusations – he accused. “The balloon of this political action burst again today at the closing press conference,” he added.

By the way, all this reasoning is quite entertaining in light of the fact that in 2019, Tamás Deutsch was elected the fourth vice-president of the EU parliamentary Budget Control Committee. It’s true, since then the members are no longer listed officially in his list.

In the end, the Fidesz politician still has the capacity to point backwards: according to Deutsch, between 2004 and 2010, when the “comrades of the European left”, the Hungarian left, were in government, not a single EU commission investigated Hungary, even though there were brutal corruption cases during this period. , such as the metro 4 scandal, where the EU anti-fraud office established the theft of HUF 160 billion. He added that the human rights situation was also not considered to be investigated during this period, even though in 2006 police terror was raging on the streets of Budapest.
