Swiss supercar Picasso PS-01 will give out mass for dignity – DRIVE

January 12, 2021

The whole project revolves around composite materials. The design is said to use the longest single piece of carbon fiber ever used in a car – 3.2 m. The coupe is designed by Italian Roberto Curto, who mainly works with water transport.

Do you know many people with the name Picasso? The first to definitely remember the artist known to the world as Pablo Picasso. In honor of him was once called Citroens… And then there is Stefano Picasso. The Swiss did not wait for world recognition and gave the car an appropriate name on his own. The Picasso PS-01 supercar is under development. The head of the Lugano workshop says that the main goal of the engineers is to achieve a power-to-weight ratio of 1: 1 or close values. However, something is clearly not converging yet. According to preliminary data, the mass of the coupe should be 900 kg, and the power – 600 hp.

To bring the project to life, the company acquired the support of an international investor. Unfortunately, who exactly in question is not disclosed. The young company reflected its strategy in the slogan “Swiss precision, Italian imagination and world technology”.

Of course, a startup has many strategic partners. For example, the French firm Sadev, which specializes in racing units, is responsible for the gearbox, and Öhlins for the suspension. The seats are from Sabelt, the four-piston caliper brakes are from Carbo Brake.

There are very few details so far. According to our western colleagues, the supercharged unit located just behind the cab will be provided by one of the most famous car companies in Italy. Also known: the entire chassis is inspired by LMP2 race cars, and besides the shell itself, the rear subframe is also made of carbon fiber. The circulation will be modest – the company aims to create an exclusive handmade product. The first track tests will take place shortly. The serial two-door will be completely ready by the spring. A couple of cars have already been ordered.
