Sweden called less last year

A trend has been broken – the year 2022 was the first time that the number of small minutes in the mobile networks decreased. That’s what PTS (Post- and Telecommunications Board) writes in its report Swedish telecom market 2022. The total number of low-key minutes in the mobile networks during the year stood at 39 billion minutes, which corresponds to around 250 minutes per subscription and month, and that is a decrease of six percent compared to with the year before. According to PTS, possible causes could be an aftereffect of calls increasing more than usual during the pandemic, as well as voice calls moving to communication apps instead of traditional voice calls.

At the same time, the use of the 5G network is increasing and by the end of 2022 there were just over two million subscribers who had used 5G networks. It can be compared with the same figures for 2021 when they stayed at 720,000.

The use of data traffic also increased in 2022, more precisely by almost 30 percent, which according to PTS is in line with the increases of recent years. Data traffic in mobile networks has tripled in the last four years.
