Swappie Premium Series: A new line of premium smartphones is here

The Swappie platform, which probably needs no introduction, today officially announced a new product in its offer called the Premium Series. New line is Swappie’s first premium product and aims to fill a gap in the current market. It brings a first-class experience of refurbished smartphones and makes it easier for consumers to make a more environmentally friendly decision.

By buying a refurbished smartphone, the customer reduces the carbon footprint by up to 78% compared to buying a new model. In the end, you get a device in new condition, but at a better price and with a smaller negative impact on the environment.

We have thus made the refurbished electronics somewhat more widespread. However, we knew that this was not enough, that there is a group of customers who will only choose refurbished electronics if the phone will have a flawless aesthetic condition or a battery with full capacity. Even though they were looking for a more environmentally friendly solution, the absence of this solution created a barrier for them. Swappie recently commissioned a survey from Kantar, asking consumers why people buy new smartphones instead of refurbished ones. These are the main reasons:

• Functionality of the new phone – 41% of respondents
• Battery condition – 32% of respondents
• Absence of signs of wear and tear – 23% of respondents

And that’s why there’s a new product called Premium Serieswhich addresses all three of these requirements. The smartphone is essentially new, offers 100% battery capacity, has no signs of wear and is of course also fully functional. It also fits the Premium Series smartphone 12-month warrantyas well as all other Swappie products.

“Manufacturing new smartphones produces over 100 million tonnes of CO2 per year, while e-waste is the fastest growing form of waste on the planet. 85-95% of emissions associated with smartphones are released during production, including extraction of raw materials, transportation and the first year of life. Earlier this year, Brussels proposed legislation to support consumers’ right to repair, a step in the right direction. But we need to go further and ensure that all practices that limit independent repair through processes such as serialization, limiting parts distribution and access to manuals are banned. S==consumers should be able to seek affordable and high-quality service from the provider of their choice, and in no case should the product’s functionality be impaired because the repair was carried out outside the network of the original manufacturers. That’s the only way to effectively promote repair before replacement.”
