Suara.com – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. seeks to integrate the businesses of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives in a cluster with off takers, thus providing greater value chain benefits.
This step was taken as an effort to empower the economy through the development of village ecosystems to support the resilience of the food sector.
One of BRI’s efforts to integrate UMKM and cooperative businesses is seen in the City of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
In this area, BRI is actively helping the survival of Primkopti Balikpapan, a cooperative selling soybeans and ingredients for tofu and tempe production in the Tofu and Tempe Center Industrial Area.

Primkopti Balikpapan is a cooperative that was founded in 1999 and has been registered with the Balikpapan City Industry and Cooperative Office. This cooperative has 98 members, all of whom are tofu and tempe producers.
With the empowerment of BRI in the Primkopti Cooperative in Balikpapan, job opportunities will open and facilitate access and education of BRI loans to rural communities.
Chairman of Primkopti Balikpapan, Jazuli, said that so far the cooperative he leads has received a lot of assistance from BRI for capacity and asset development.
“So far, we have received two loans from BRI. First, we use the loan for cooperative and member capital. Second, the loan that we submitted to increase the cooperative’s assets. Our experience is that in two times getting a loan the process is very easy and the interest costs are affordable, ”said Jazuli.
Within a month, this cooperative has an average turnover of Rp. 2.9 billion. Primkopti Balikpapan works daily to ensure the fulfillment of soybean needs and ingredients for tofu and tempe production for the members.
