The proposal for a regulation on amendments to the regulation on financial grants to agricultural holdings for the agricultural production of plant crops in 2023 was adopted at the Government session, and the request to exercise this right can be submitted until May 31, 2023.

Around 265,000 requests have been received since April 7, when the Public Call was published.

This measure will contribute to achieving the stability of producers’ income, increasing the level of crop production, and achieving a higher level of yield and product quality. Thanks to it, the improvement of productivity is expected, along with the reduction of production costs, the growth of competitiveness, along with adaptation to market requirements, as well as the technical and technological improvement of the agricultural sector, according to the Government’s website.

In the conditions of increasing production costs, this kind of support enables equal treatment of all farms, stimulates the implementation of optimal agrotechnical measures in production, which leads to the improvement of the competitiveness of agricultural farms.

The proposal for a regulation on the establishment of a program to encourage the development of entrepreneurship through financial support for business beginners and young people in 2023 was also adopted, in order to further encourage the start of independent business and the establishment of new business entities, with a special emphasis on supporting young people. The members of the Government also adopted the Conclusion on consent to initiate the procedure for the application of the Republic of Serbia for membership in the European Laboratory for Molecular Biology EMBL, which conducts basic research in molecular biology and molecular medicine and trains scientists and students.

Membership in EMBL enables national scientific communities to access the infrastructure and services of structural biology, scientific services and facilities, visits to leading universities to inform students about the EMBL international doctoral program and postdoctoral program, visits to leading institutes to explore the potential for future cooperation, doctoral students acquire the right and the possibility for short-term internships and financing from the EMBL budget, and the exchange of knowledge at workshops and conferences is also possible, according to the Government’s website.
