Recall that NVIDIA DLSS debuted in February 2019 with version 1.0, updated to 2.0 in April 2020, and to 3.0 in September 2022. The technology is available only to owners of RTX video cards (RTX 40 series in the case of DLSS 3).

To 300 games and applications with DLSS support, NVIDIA’s scaling thus took a little more than four years. The technology broke the mark of 150 projects in February 2022, and in January 2023 it reached the top of 250 products.

There are already more than three dozen games with support specifically for DLSS 3

Earlier this week, D5 Render received support for DLSS 3, and the post-apocalyptic MMO shooter Ashfall will be integrated with this technology at release (see the debut gameplay trailer below).

What distinguishes DLSS 3 from previous versions of the upscaler is Frame Generation technology, which is based on an optical flow accelerator (available only on RTX 40-series cards) and provides the ability to independently build additional frames.

As for DLSS 2, two games were released in Steam Early Access with it – the cooperative horror The Outlast Trials (debuted on May 18) and the survival shooter Voidtrain (May 8). Also, a patch with DLSS 2 was released for the bus simulator Bus Simulator 21.

As a reminder, DLSS uses machine learning technologies to intelligently scale images on the fly, which improves performance without significantly reducing image quality.
