The Government of Serbia has adopted the Program for the schedule and use of subsidies, transfers and grants intended for tourism development projects in 2021.
The program envisages incentives for the construction of infrastructure and superstructure in tourist destinations in the amount of 600 million and 500 thousand dinars, and for projects of promotion, education and training in tourism, in the amount of 105 million dinars.
“Investments in infrastructure, promotion and education are crucial not only for recovery, but also for accelerated reform of the tourism sector in the face of global competition for the market in the post-pandemic period. The goals are to establish a regional balance of tourist traffic and a system for monitoring the results achieved in tourism, to establish a system of incentives for “green field” investments, as well as to establish a system for development and sustainability of authentic tourist destinations through integration of tourism in local communities, said Tatjana Matic. trade, tourism and telecommunications.
According to her, the focus is also on the development of infrastructure, protection of the environment and cultural and historical heritage in tourist areas, ie local and regional growth of competitiveness and quality in tourism.
“Destination management organizations, companies and other organizations and institutions founded by the Government, AP Vojvodina or local self-government units, which are not indirect users of the budget, have the right to use the grant,” she pointed out.
The Minister explained that for the projects of promotion, training and education in tourism, in addition to the above, the right is exercised by non-governmental organizations and non-profit institutions for the development of tourism.
