Subotica has set aside 80 hectares of land for solar power plants

The Bikovo solar power plant, with a maximum installed capacity of over 50 megawatts, will be built near Subotica. The investor of this project is the company Untermolo from Novi Sad, and the plant will cover an area of 80 hectares.

The Assembly of the City of Subotica announced an early public insight on the occasion of the development of the Plan for detailed regulation of the Bikovo solar power plant on its territory. Those interested can send comments until January 19.

The land covered by the plan is undeveloped and is located not far from the Subotica airport, in the area of the village of Bikovo. More precisely, between the railway corridor Novi Sad – Subotica, the municipal road and the watercourse Čiker. The plot occupies just under 80 hectares.

According to the spatial plan for the Bikovo power plant, the construction of the infrastructure complex of the solar plant with a maximum installed capacity of over 50 megawatts and the placement of the produced energy in the transmission system is planned. It would be connected to the network via an existing transmission line that runs one kilometer from the site, on its western side.

Within the plot, photovoltaic panels will be grouped into blocks, with roads in between, and the main transformer station. In addition, the construction of a building for the management of the system is planned within the complex, it is stated in the plan for Bikovo.

The authors of the plan for Bikovo refer to the Energy Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030. It states that the total power of solar power plants in the country should reach 300 megawatts in 2025, and 350 megawatts in 2030.
