STUDY: Seven out of ten Romanians took their car to service late

According to a study conducted by one of the most important manufacturers of lubricants in the world, seven out of ten Romanian drivers showed up late with their cars in service in a pandemic due to the quarantine imposed at national level.

At the same time, 62% of drivers in our country were worried that the car they own might be less reliable due to the low number of kilometers and service visits omitted during the quarantine.

Covid-19 keeps drivers away from service

According to a survey commissioned by Castrol, 24 of the drivers surveyed said they did not drive to the service because they could not make an appointment, while 18% of respondents said they were afraid of getting sick with Covid. -19 during a service visit.

Most of those who are afraid of a possible infection with the new coronavirus were young drivers aged between 25 and 34 years (20%). At the opposite pole are those over 65 (8%).

These results highlight the fact that car services must provide customers with assurances regarding measures to prevent and limit the spread of infections with the new SARS-VOC-2.

It is also very important to observe the service intervals recommended by the manufacturer. Otherwise, mud may accumulate in the engine compartment, which can clog vital segments of the lubrication circuit, reducing power, efficiency, and engine life.

“Even with proper use, engine oil can degrade at very high temperatures, and over time it can turn into mud deposits. Other factors can also appear, such as a bad fuel, the delay of the oil change or the omission of this operation, as well as the trips with repeated stops and restarts ”, explain the Castrol experts.

“Engine Shampoo” saves the engine

The British lubricant company recently launched “Engine Shampoo”, a pre-oil change treatment that helps maintain the efficient operation of petrol / diesel engines.

The results of the tests performed at the Castrol Technology Center showed that the new product reduces sludge deposits by up to 85% in the case of gasoline engines.

“Engine Shampoo” helps maintain engine power and efficiency by dissolving and removing sludge during the oil change process. The cleaning operation takes about ten minutes and is performed before changing the oil.

After the oil has warmed up, the engine must be stopped to add 300 ml of “Engine Shampoo” over the used oil. The engine is then restarted and idled for ten minutes. The sludge is transferred to the engine oil, and then it is drained with the engine stopped and the filters replaced.
