Studio Game Freak, mainly associated with Pokémon, is working on a brand new action-adventure universe

Japanese studio Game Freak has been associated with Pokémon since 1996, so the announcement of a new action-adventure IP is rather surprising. The title, so far referred to only as Project Bloom, was released on Twitters the indie-focused publishing arm of Take-Two, Private Division, with which GF is teaming up on the project. So far, both companies have only released one concept image, depicting the atmosphere of a pompous forest environment and one traditionally Japanese-clad character. The title starting a brand new brand of authors is still only in the very early stages of development, and therefore is not expected to be released until sometime in the publisher’s fiscal year 2026.

Commenting on the announcement, Game Freak CEO Kota Furushima said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a new brand that is bold and completely different from our previous work. Private Division are the publishers we wanted to work with on our new game from the beginning. Their track record and expertise in the global marketplace gives us the confidence we need to create a new massive action-adventure game that we’re eager to share more about in the future.”
