Start-up Studio Ama is one of the 17 winners of the Henry van de Velde awards and is now in the running for the Gold Award in the Climate Challenge Award 2021 category.
The Belgian fashion house Studio Ama was created as a laboratory for the creation of ethical fashion, with the aim of realizing ethical fashion according to circular and social principles. The raw materials for the collection are residual materials from the local textile industry. The designs are adapted to the production possibilities within tailor-made companies, so the added value of waste flows and social employment is bundled in a clothing line of sustainable clothing and a local value chain.
The Henry van de Velde Awards are presented by Flanders DC and are the most important design awards in Belgium. The awards are divided into twelve different categories: Business Innovation, Consumer, Crafts by Bokrijk, Digital Product, Graphic Design & Communication, Climate Challenge, Habitat Henry van de Velde Lifetime Achievement, Young Talent, Company, OVAM Ecodesign Gold Awards and the Henry van the Velde Public Choice Award. On 5 February, it will be announced during a digital presentation who will win the Gold Award in each category.
