Students protest in Noakhali demanding half fare on public transport

Students have rallied in Noakhali to demand unconditional half fare for students on public transport across the country, compensation for victims of all road killings, justice for those involved and taking effective steps to implement safe roads.

Students of universities, colleges and various schools participated in the program under the banner of general students at the corner of Maijdi Town Hall at 10:30 am on Thursday.

During the hour-long human chain and demonstration program, college student Sumon Chandra Das spoke on the performance – students Ahmed Riyadh, Kaniz Fatema, Proma, Kamrul Hasan Shakil, Muna, Fardin Ahmed Shipon, Muntaha Preeti and Dipan Majumdar and many others.

The speakers said that many students have died in the last few years due to bus crash on different roads. Begum Badrunnessa, a student of Government Women’s College, recently demanded that she pay half the fare, and a bus helper threatened to rape her if she tried to pay half the fare, and demanded justice for all the incidents that took place on the road with the students.
