Storm of criticism against Disney character – accused of corporeality

“I know it’s just a cartoon character, but for God’s sake … they have to give the girl a little belly.”

This is one of the outraged comments written about the short film “Inner Workings” online.

And what started on a small scale on the social media platform Glitch has grown into a major storm of criticism, where the original post has over 180,000 likes.

But what is it that makes viewers so upset then?

The Disney movie Inner Workings was released in 2016 and is about a man by name Paul, which is torn between heart and brain in their everyday life.

The brain wants him to stay in his boring workplace, while the heart wants to go on adventures in the open air.

Somewhere along the way he meets Kate – and it is she, and her character, who made the viewers furious, several years after the short film first premiered.

“It is impossible”

Several viewers have been upset about the fact that the character Kate has an unrealistic and unnatural body shape, with a very large butt in relation to her narrow waist.

It is feared that children and young people will see the short film, and then start making unrealistic demands on their own bodies.

“It makes me sad to think of children out there who will think this is what their bodies should look like,” explains a Glitch user.

“It is impossible to naturally have such a butt without any stomach at all”, writes another.
