Statisticians published today how Czech retail was doing in June

Prague – The Czech Statistical Office (CSO) will publish its retail results for June today. Revenues of traders in May, after the easing of anti-epidemic measures, rose by 5.8 percent year-on-year after adjusting for calendar effects, without adjusting for 8.1 percent. At the same time, market expectations for the fifth month expected growth of around three percent. According to analysts, retail sales should continue to prosper in the coming months, only the growth rate could slow down.

Clothing and clothing retailers performed best in May, with sales up 41.1 percent year on year. Sales of retailers of computers and communication equipment increased by 16.5 percent compared to last May, with cosmetics and toilet products by 14 percent. Sales of pharmaceutical and medical goods increased by 9.6 percent.

Despite the opening of brick-and-mortar stores, online retailers saw growth of 15.6 percent in May. According to analysts, the popularity of online shopping will remain.

In the fifth month, traders earned more year-on-year for food in all types of stores. In specialized stores they had them higher by six percent and in non-specialized stores with a predominance of food by 1.6 percent.

Lower sales in May were recorded by specialized stores with products for culture, sports and recreation. They fell by 2.6 percent year on year.

Sales and repairs of motor vehicles increased by calendar-adjusted sales by 34 percent compared to last May. Unadjusted was up 43.6 percent year-on-year, of which sales of cars, including spare parts, increased by 47.7 percent and sales of cars by 28.4 percent. Seasonally adjusted sales and repairs of vehicles fell by 1.3 percent month-on-month.
