CHP Deputy Chairman for Foreign Organization and Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan criticized the decision taken by the Supreme Election Board (YSK), while increasing the number of ballot boxes in some countries and shortening the voting period in some countries.

“DOWNLOAD IN 2 DAYS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE”

Tezcan, on the subject, said, “The Supreme Election Board; In the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, the second round of voting time was reduced to 2 days. There are very serious justified reactions on this issue, from citizens and voters. Our desire should be to increase participation, to ensure the highest level of voter participation, to increase the opportunity to vote. It is impossible to understand this decision,” he said.

Bülent Tezcan continued, “When the Supreme Election Board published the calendar for the first time for the first time, it determined the dates of the voting in the second round.” The Supreme Board of Elections published its decision numbered 142 on April 2023. For the second time, it regulated the voting periods abroad, including in the United States, England, Canada and Australia. It also stated that there will be voting between May 20 and May 24. The excuses of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are High. There can be no justification for the decision of the Election Board. The Minister of Foreign Affairs is an officer appointed by the president. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not a judicial organ. The Constitution states that elections will be held under the supervision and control of the judiciary. The Supreme Election Board is a constitutional institution established to carry out this task. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot manage elections. “Such a decision means entrusting the election to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We have objected to this and we are following it,” he said.
