Starting this month, Daihatsu prepares to go into production of 2 shifts

The Daihatsu plant resumed its factory operational activities to meet the export and domestic markets.

DAPURPACU – Various steps have been taken by Daihatsu to keep the unit production scheme specifically for the domestic market continuing, amidst the implementation of the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy.

“As a company domiciled in Jakarta, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) always operates in accordance with the conditions set by the Government,” said Amelia Tjandra, Marketing Director and Corporate Planning & Communication Director of PT ADM.

As is known, beforehand, ADM temporarily halted factory activities as a preventative measure from transmitting the plague. Then in early June, the factory resumed production activities after the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government became the Transitional Period PSBB.

Even so, the unit’s production activities are only for the fulfillment of the export market. Now, starting this July, the production process is no longer just for exports, but also needs in the domestic market.

However, production volumes will still be limited in number because all production activities and processes must meet the Covid-19 protocol and follow the PSBB regulations.

Anticipating an increase in demand for Daihatsu vehicles for both the export and domestic markets in the future, ADM is currently preparing the production process at the factory in two shifts.

Implementation of the application is still in the training phase this month and is expected to be optimally implemented starting in August 2020.

“We hope that preparations for the production of 2 shifts this month will be the beginning of the next increase in production in the remaining 2020. Hopefully the Indonesian economy can recover soon and the car market will revive,” Amelia concluded. [dp/MTH]
