Introduction of little Nina to the temple

Orthodox Serbs across Australia solemnly marked a holiday dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Trifun, the protector of sincere love and fidelity, on Sunday, February 14.

Saint Trifun is celebrated by some Serbian families as a baptismal feast, and he is prayed to protect the fields from floods, hail and various pests.

Several of our families from the Sydney suburb of Liverpool, who celebrate St. Tryphon, brought celebration cakes for consecration to the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke.

The consecration of cakes and celebratory flags, before the holy liturgy, was performed by the elder of the temple, Father Aleksandar Milutinović.

One of the touching moments was the first introduction to the temple of little Nina Jovanović, only seven weeks old, and to the joy of her parents Miloš and Ristina, grandfather Predrag, grandmother Dragica and sister Nika.

In addition to Father Aleksandar, the Holy Liturgy was also served by Father Nenad Đurašinović, the Apostles were read by Subdeacon Nikola Zbiljić, and the church choir answered.

From the Liverpool shrine, there is also a notification that the Serbian Sunday school “Sveti Luka” has started working, and about thirty students attended classes on the first day. Enrollment of new students is still ongoing.

Also, members of the board and members of the local Circle of Serbian Sisters are planning a rich lunch with 3-4 different cauldrons and other specialties for Sunday, March 7, when we celebrate the White Carnival (before the Easter fast).

All proceeds go to the completion of the new temple. The help of the faithful people for this event is welcome. Read more details in the coming days in “Vesti”.
