Spreading the old video, Ismail Sabri lodged a police report [METROTV]

Kuala Lumpur: Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob lodged a police report regarding the dissemination of an old video defaming him as violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (PKP).

The police report was made by its Press Secretary, Azlina Md Rosdy at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD), at about 12 noon this afternoon.

Azlina said the report was aimed at asking the authorities to conduct an investigation on individuals who spread two old videos that not only tried to tarnish the name of Ismail Sabri but could also cause chaos between the races.

“The first short video was when Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri made a daily press conference related to Covid-19 last year.

“The video was spread as if it was the latest press conference and as if to deceive the people that there will be no more summons and compound will be imposed if they violate the SOP otherwise the people will continue to be imprisoned.

“It is an old video and the government is making various improvements in the implementation of the SOP,” he said when met by reporters after making the report.

Apart from that, Azlina said, the second video entitled ‘Sendiri Buat SOP Sendiri Langgar’ which was contagious was actually recorded by Ismail Sabri attending a relaxing ceremony with the country’s art activists in conjunction with the Heroes’ Day Fund Campaign on September 16 last year.

He said the video was deliberately spread by claiming that he attended the Chinese New Year Celebration.

Azlina said, the dissemination of the malicious video could cause the people’s anger to arise and affect the people’s credibility and trust.

“We have identified two Facebook accounts that started spreading the video and handed it over to the police for further action. Several other individuals who spread the video will also be identified and will be prosecuted.

“In fact, yesterday we also lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and an investigation is underway,” he said.

Earlier, two video recordings showed Ismail Sabri’s press conference and he attended a ceremony and shook hands with the guests present on Facebook.
