In the first six months of this year, mobile speed cameras recorded almost as many violations as in the entire last year, writes rus.err.ee.
From January to June, mobile cameras detected 107,653 cases of violation of the speed limit, for which fines of 2.1 million euros were issued, and for the entire last year, 114,252 violations were recorded.
With stationary cameras, the situation is the opposite: in the first six months they recorded 33,950 violations, and for the entire last year – 87,496.
The police noted that such a large difference in the results of the work of mobile cameras is due to the fact that last year the traffic volume decreased due to the state of emergency. In addition, the police have allocated additional resources to make more active use of mobile cameras: they are installed in a new place each time and more effectively record violations than fixed cameras, to which drivers driving along the same routes quickly get used to.
