Prague – Sparta hockey players defeated Třinec 1:0 in the match of the 24th round of the extra league. A goal by forward Roman Horák 92 seconds before the end of regular time was enough for the home team to extend their winning streak after coach Miloslav Hořava came on as a substitute for four games without losing a point. Goalkeeper Jakub Kovář saved the second clean sheet of the season. The Praguers defeated the Steelers for the first time in the season. The guests did not reach points in the third of the last four appearances.

The opening ten minutes of the third replay of the last final of the extra league playoff offered above all a battle of secured defenses and very few chances. Quite possibly also because both teams had today’s opponent well prepared from the last match between them, which took place less than two weeks ago.

Jandus had the first big chance in the 11th minute, but he was unable to overcome goalkeeper Kacetl. It wasn’t until the 19th minute that Třinečtí were able to move the score, but Hrňa’s finish was the same as Jandus’s and crashed on Kovář.

The second act unfolded in a similar spirit, in the beginning of which the guests played the first power play of the match after a bad substitution by the Spartans, but the home team managed to weaken without problems. The spectators were lifted from their seats by the events in the 26th minute, when first Jandus fired again and then Forman and Čukste expressed their opinions in a short battle.

When Růžička committed a foul against the rules a moment later, Sparta had almost half a minute of a four-on-three power play, but Kacetl covered Kempné’s shot. In the 37th minute, Gustaf Thorell tried it with a backhand from a promising position, but Kacetl was not surprised even in this case.

The wait for the first score change eventually dragged on until the very end. In the 58th minute, visiting captain Růžička was already getting into a solo on Kovař, but Krejčík rushed in with a defensive tackle that the Třinec gunner didn’t like very much. Just a moment later, on the other side, Tomášek found Horák, who showed quick hands and beat Kacetl with a great bluff. In the last minute, Slezáné tried without a goalkeeper, but unsuccessfully.
