Soybean oil prices rise |

United News 24 Desk :: Edible oil mill owners in Bangladesh today increased the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 38 per liter to Tk 198.

The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vegetable Manufacturers Association made the announcement in a press release today.

It further said that the price of open or unpacked soybean oil has been increased by Tk 44 per liter to Tk 180 per liter from today.

When contacted, senior secretary at the commerce ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh said it was urgent to increase soybean oil prices in view of rising global prices. He said the ministry could hold a meeting with stakeholders next month.

Edible oil prices have risen further in the international market since the last correction on March 20 for the local market. According to the notification of Edible Oil Refinery, the price of five liter bottled soybean oil has been increased from Tk 80 to Tk 975.

Refineries have also increased the price of palm oil from Rs 130 per liter to Rs 162 per liter.
