sounds the alarm in Cyber Attacks operations

On the occasion of the recent escalation of cyber-attacks in Cyprus, which have affected government services as well as private companies and organizations, the Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEB) with its relevant announcement, sounds the alarm to all businesses for prevention and avoiding incidents of this nature.

As noted in the announcement, “The majority of cyber attacks are Ransomware type, malicious software that destroys or prevents access to critical data, files and even entire systems/platforms. In cases where companies are unable to find a way out of their trap, cybercriminals, in order to unlock the data, extort a ransom, in most cases in cryptocurrency (an untraceable virtual currency), and thus continue to operate undisturbed”.

The OEB appeals to businesses and organizations to be particularly careful with the management and storage of their electronic data, to save them frequently and regularly in a backup storage area (hard drive/cloud), to constantly review and update their protection policies and to address either the suppliers of the software they use or to specialized consultants in matters of electronic data security, so as to avoid such unpleasant incidents.

At the same time, and given that OEB has been invited to participate in the Advisory Committee of the National Cyber Security Coordination Center (NCCC-CY), through its action it will keep businesses informed, so that they have sufficient support and access to knowledge and research results and development in the field of cyber security, with the aim of remaining constantly protected from cyber attacks.
