Tools and solutions for content production
Virtual production with volumetric recordings from the real world
The environment and location of a TV or movie production can be recorded with 3D volumetric point cloud data and then processed and reproduced with Sony Innovation Studios’ “Atom View” software. This makes it possible to use the recordings as a background image on a Crystal LED screen and perform virtual production in real time.
Live concert experience with Madison Beer with 3D Creation technology
Epic Records singer and songwriter Madison Beer is teaming up with Sony Music Entertainment (SMEI) and Verizon to create an immersive and realistic music experience that rethinks concert experiences for viewing across digital platforms. Using the latest innovations in 3D technology in real time, Madison Beer has been transformed into a realistic avatar performing a medley of her latest songs in a virtual reconstruction of Sony Hall.
360 Reality Audio tool for music production
Sony and Virtual Sonics Inc., which develop music software, have created 360 Reality Audio Creative Suite, a tool for producing 360 Reality Audio compatible music. The tool easily lets artists create artists in a 360 spherical sound field from their existing production platforms.

Sony unveils for the first time their “Airpeak” drone design. Airpeak is equipped with a mirrorless Sony Alpha full-frame camera, enabling dynamic shooting. Together with a precise and stable flight, Airpeak must increase the creativity of video creators and give them the opportunity to create new expressions. With this initiative, Sony aims to contribute to the development of drones and create value at the highest level in this growth market.
Video production with Xperia 5 II
Xperia 5 II is a 5G smartphone in Sony’s flagship series that gives users even more options to express themselves using the Photography Pro feature, while Cinematography Pro “powered by CineAlta” provides even better movie shooting experiences using the ability to change parameters and color settings for the recordings. A color setting inspired by the Master Monitor color rendering from Sony’s professional technology ensures exact colors for the screen as the creators intended. And thanks to 5G, it is possible to perform data transfers and reception in real time.
Spatial Reality Display
A new screen that reproduces lifelike three-dimensional images that make it possible to present visions in a realistic way, e.g. new product designs or variations in different colors or shapes. With the extraordinary realism and richness of detail, videos can be used to an even greater extent, e.g. for three-dimensional signage in stores that provides a realistic insight into a product’s depth, structure and appearance.
Crystal LED Display
The new Crystal LED series comes with “X1 for Crystal LED ”, a high-performance image quality processor that incorporates LED control technology developed for Sony’s groundbreaking Crystal LED, as well as the recognized signal processing technology from Sony’s BRAVIA TVs.
The screens come in a variety of layouts and sizes depending on the purpose, e.g. for a company’s showrooms, lobby or virtual productions.
Hawk-Eye and Pulselive challenge the customs in sports
Hawk-Eye, a Sony company that provides official solutions for sports and analytics services, and Hawk-Eye’s digital division Pulselive, which provides digital solutions that enhance the experience for sports fans, are jointly developing new innovations for the sports industry. Going forward, Sony will provide new forms of entertainment options that visualize sports content and data.
Immersive entertainment experiences
The new BRAVIA XR features the Cognitive Processor XR, which delivers intelligence that reflects human cognitive characteristics. The processor divides the screen into several zones and detects the focus point in the image. Unlike conventional artificial intelligence, the Cognitive Processor XR is capable of cross-analyzing a series of elements at the same time to produce an image that is more natural and closer to human memory. It also upscales audio to 5.1.2 channels, which encapsulates the viewer in surround sound for a realistic and immersive audiovisual experience.
360 Reality Audio-videostreaming
In partnership with some of the largest record companies and streaming services, Sony will launch a live video streaming service at the end of the year, combining a spatial sound field with images in 360 Reality Audio. The listener will have an all-encompassing experience, as if they were in the same room as the artist. Prior to the launch, a performance by Zara Larsson will be available. This will be the first video in the 360 Reality Audio format. For more information, visit https://pressecenter.sony.dk/pressreleases/sony-udvider-360-reality-audio-oekosystemet-3063418
Launched in November 2020, the PlayStation®5 comes with ultra-fast SSD access, integrated custom I / O (input / output), and wireless DualSensecontroller and 3D audio technology that enables the next generation of revolutionary gaming experiences. In addition to the many game titles already available at launch, Sony Interactive Entertainment, as well as developers around the world, will continue to deliver a number of amazing and groundbreaking titles in the future.
Technology for a better future
With the goal of contributing to the development of mobility, VISION-S has reached the next stage in the development phase. To further develop the car’s safety, entertainment and adaptability, the actual test on public roads in Austria began in December 2020 in order to carry out a technical evaluation.
As a “creative entertainment company with a solid foundation of technology”, Sony will continue to deliver Kando (feeling) using the 3R technologies that make it possible to share content regardless of location (Remote), without delay (Real-time) and with a true sense of reality (Reality).
