Sony presents the new Xperia 1 V smartphone

Sony today announced the Xperia 1 V, the first smartphone with a newly developed CMOS image sensor that uses dual-layer Transistor Pixel technology. Xperia 1 V features Sony’s latest technology to meet the high demands of creators while supporting future creators who want to be proud of their recorded and broadcast content.

The upper level covers the content
The newly developed image sensor in the Xperia 1 breaks new ground by displaying rich colors and textures of people, landscapes and scenes even in dark locations. A combination of exceptional low-light performance that is approximately double that of its predecessorⁱand high-speed multi-frame overlay processing technologies allow the new Xperia 1 V to capture photos with low noise and a wider dynamic range, equivalent to those taken with a full-frame cameraⁱⁱ. The 24mm lens of the main camera is equipped with a dual-layer Transistor Pixel CMOS image sensor “Exmor T for mobile”, which is approximately 1.7 times larger than the image sensor on the previous model. In addition, the 85-125mm (F2.3-F2.8) optical zoom lens enables bright portraits and low distortion.

S-Cinetone, a technology familiar to videographersⁱⁱⁱ, has been adapted and built into the latest Xperia smartphone. Because with this technology, the texture of human skin can be expressed extremely beautifully already during recording, you can make an impressive film clip that does not need to be color corrected. The new sensor also has approximately three times the saturation signal levelⁱⁱ compared to a conventional sensor, and unique image quality processing reduces the level of noise that tends to appear in dark scenes. The end result is beautiful images with soft colors.

The Xperia 1 V is packed with features, including color presets such as Creative Look, also found in the Alpha series cameras, and high-performance real-time autofocus (AF). Color presets on your phone include colorful flowers, a clear blue sky, or creating a soft, translucent final look to your shot. Powerful technologies for automatic eye focusing (Xperia Real-time Eye AF) and tracking^iv in real time they allow photos that are focused on the eyes or on a specific subject. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence analyzes distance information and thus enables a clear display of even distant objects. The phone now also enables fast and continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second with AF/AE tracking^vso you won’t miss a single moment.

Improved vlog recording
The Xperia 1 V meets all the needs of creators with the popular Product Showcase Setting, which is also available in Sony’s VLOGCAM family of cameras. When recording, the technology focuses the camera on the product, not on the face of the product reviewer. In addition, an additional microphone for recording voice is installed near the main camera, which enables the capture of the clear voice of the recorder even when recording in loud locations, thus facilitating the transition from recording to video playback. When recording live on YouTube™, Videography Pro’s video recording feature allows viewers to view comments simultaneously in a dedicated area of ​​the screen, enabling instant interaction^vi with your audience in real time. The user interface also supports portrait photography, offering the ability to capture photos in any orientation, vertical or horizontal^vii.

An immersive experience
Our flagship Xperia smartphone features a 16.51cm OLED display with 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate^viii and offers an even sharper image. A powerful, low-noise amplifier enhances the range and depth of the sound, as well as more low and high frequencies, which means a more dynamic and clean sound. Xperia 1 V offers an authentic experience of watching movies and music without the need for an additional speaker.

The back of the phone features a functional tactile design that uses a uniquely developed glass texture. Combined with the fine slits on the side, it gives you a stable grip and prevents it from slipping when you hold your smartphone while taking photos or watching.

Long-lasting battery and powerful processor
Despite using a 4K resolution screen, the powerful 5000 mAh battery allows the Xperia 1 V smartphone to last up to 20 hours^xi continuous video playback. Wireless charging, 30-minute quick charge up to 50%^xii and unique charging optimization technology bring users a battery that will retain up to 80% or more of its capacity^xiii even after 3 years.

Reduced power consumption and improved heat dissipation mean Xperia 1 V achieves both high performance and durability, offering long-lasting recording with lower heat generation. The Snapdragon® 8 Gen2 mobile platform delivers up to around 40%^xiv higher energy efficiency of the processor compared to the previous model. Energy consumption during camera operation is lower by about 20%, and the volume of the heat dissipation plate is about 60% larger, allowing for a faster flow of excess heat.

Durability
Continued efforts to improve accessibility now include Photo Pro, which uses sounds to inform users of the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the screen.

The Sony Group has set itself the “Road to Zero” environmental plan, which aims to achieve zero environmental impact by 2050. To achieve this long-term goal, we adopt and implement medium-term environmental goals. As part of these, we want to completely eliminate plastic packaging for newly designed small products by 2025. The exclusive Xperia 1 V smartphone case is equipped with a grip on the bottom for a better shooting experience. In addition to the usual horizontal position, it also allows you to place it in a vertical position, which makes it easier not only to watch videos, but also to play live and video chat. Prices and availability
The Xperia 1 V will be available from the end of June at an estimated retail price of 1,399 euros in black, platinum silver and khaki green, and for Slovenia it is expected to be in black.
