Company Acts and four other major companies are joining forces to create a new ecosystem for innovation in smart mobility. Together, they plan to leverage their complementary expertise to develop and sell software that should enhance a sustainable mobility offering for cities, regions, businesses and citizens. and Thales, who also presented the first solutions.
Solutions in the areas of artificial intelligence, cyber security, connectivity, embedded electronics and virtual twin technology will contribute to the uniqueness of new products and services. This open innovation system, founded by five leaders from the automotive and technology sectors, is ready to welcome new members and establish open cooperation.
Mobility is changing and bringing new opportunities. According to an analysis by Boston Consulting Group, the global mobility market will grow by 60% by 2035 to 11 trillion euros. Technological innovations – electric vehicles, new components, new after-sales services and other value-added services – will mainly contribute to growth, increasing their share from 5% to 45% of the global mobility market.
Major industrial players from other continents are already preparing to develop many of these new technologies through improved integration strategies and state support. According to the founding members of Software République, it is therefore very important today that France and Europe work together to build a sustainable ecosystem that will maintain their sovereignty in this area.
Three main areas of cooperation
The members of the initiative identified three main areas of cooperation for the joint development and sale of intelligent mobility solutions, which will enable the implementation of a customized and agile mobility offer:
- intelligent systems to facilitate the secure connection between the vehicle and its digital and physical environment;
- simulation and data management systems for optimizing flows for territories and societies;
- energetický ekosystém pro zjednodušení nabíjení.
For example, Software République partners discussed the following topics:
Plug and Charge: development of new technologies and services that would allow the automatic detection of an electric vehicle connected to a compatible charging point and charging without any further user action.
Optimization of mobility flows for the territory: simplifying access to immediate and open mobility information and simulating its exchange between regions in order to ensure:
- choosing the best way for mobility for consumers;
- rozšíření služeb pro operátory;
- simulation and implementation of mobility scenarios for public authorities (eg for emergencies);
- better anticipation in spatial planning for urban planners.
In support of innovation, Software République will seek to create an investment fund to finance the most promising startups and an incubator for technology and smart mobility startups. Within it, startups should have access to a common virtual development and experimental environment or mentoring. When launching the ecosystem for startups and universities, Software République partners plan to organize a data challenge to contribute to the development of tomorrow’s mobility technologies: electric, connected and autonomous.
Elie Girard, CEO Atos:
“Atos is proud to be one of the founding members of Software République. As a technology developer and integrator of comprehensive solutions, we will provide this unique ecosystem with our digital expertise in reducing carbon footprint and our innovative technologies in key areas such as artificial intelligence, digital security, cloud, IoT or high-performance computing. This initiative brings together the strengths of the world’s five leading players in the automotive and technology industries and promises to accelerate the decarbonisation of mobility. “
Bernard Charlès, vice-president and CEO of Dassault Systèmes:
Luca De Meo, Fiat Group CEO;
“In the new mobility value chain, in-vehicle information systems are the driving force behind all research and investment. We have decided to face this technological challenge together and openly. There will be no center of gravity, the value of each will be multiplied by all others. The combined expertise in cybersecurity, microelectronics, energy and data management will allow us to develop unique, cutting-edge solutions for the low-carbon, shared and responsible mobility that will be created in Europe. ”
Jean-Marc Chery, prezident a CEO STMicroelectronics:
“STMicroelectronics has joined Software République to bring its innovative semiconductor products and solutions for the electrification and digitization of vehicles and mobility services. Our knowledge enables an ongoing transformation towards more effective solutions to environmental impact in line with stakeholder expectations. The partnership at the heart of this project strengthens the links throughout the value chain, which is a key aspect during this phase of the transformation of the whole industry. “
Patrice Caine, předseda představenstva a CEO, Thales:
“République software brings a common impetus that is inevitable for the mobility ecosystem. Building on proven experience in digital security in highly demanding industries such as transport, banking, defense and aviation, Thales will share its expertise in artificial intelligence, cyber security and connectivity to enhance the protection of vehicles, their data and those involved in mobility. “
