Soft laundry without softener: there are many solutions to obtain soft and fragrant clothes, here are what they are.
There is nothing better than a soft laundry and fragrant, for a fresh sensation on the skin. However, the use of commercial softeners is not always environmentally friendly: unless the manufacturer guarantees the maximum biodegradability of the detergent, some chemical residues they can contaminate drains and, subsequently, also waterways. But how to get soft and clean cloths, choosing home solutions or gods natural remedies?
There are many strategies that can be implemented to obtain a soft laundry, like using a classic softener, without however weighing on the environment. Here are some tips.
Preparation for washing
The first step to obtain soft laundry even in the absence of specific detergents is to prepare the washing cycle. First of all, it is necessary to divide the garments to be placed in the washing machine not only according to the color, but also of fibre with which they are produced. It is always better to prefer identical materials, especially if of natural origin: in other words, you will have to wash the cotton only with other cotton, as well as for the other fibers.
Furthermore, to maintain their softness, garments must be able to take advantage of sufficient space to move around in basket. Consequently, it is not recommended to carry out a washing cycle with a full load. A washing machine that is not perfectly full, however, could appear to be a waste in environmental terms, for this reason a very fast cycle must be chosen, possibly at a reduced temperature.
To increase the possibility of movement of the garments inserted in the appliance, again, one can use one tennis ball. The soft, porous surface will gently caress the fibers, while helping the clothes to unfold as the drum is rotated.
Last but not least, one will have to be chosen centrifuge at low speed or, if you have the possibility of being able to drip the laundry without a hitch whatsoever, turn it off completely.
The phase of drying it is very important, as it can also enormously affect the softness of the garments. Too hot and not very humid climates, for example, could make the tissues dry and stiff, for a very unpleasant sensation on the skin. On the contrary, excessive cold or high humidity could slow down the drying process, making the clothes unpleasant to the touch.
Given these premises, they should be avoided radiators or other devices that produce heat to dry clothes quickly. Better to prefer the classic drying rack positioned in a sunny place, perhaps covered with a sheet or a protective tarpaulin, to prevent the action of the sun from discolouring the colors of your favorite clothes.
Finally, an excellent natural remedy can also be used to help garments retain their natural softness. This is thewine vinegar, an ally for home cleaning at 360 degrees and very useful for laundry too.
To take advantage of the degreasing and sanitizing properties of the vinegar, as well as its delicate effect on the fibers, simply pour two tablespoons into the drawer intended for the classic softener. If the typical scent of vinegar persists on clothing, a final rinse in lukewarm water or, again, a last pass in the washing machine with a few flakes of Marseille soap.
