Social media app Parler returns battered

Parler, aka the conservative Twitter, has been back on the air since Monday. A CEO poorer, and without mobile apps.

Following the storming of the Capitol in January, Parler was dropped by Amazon Web Services after inciting violence by users. There was no moderation.

CEO John Matze has since been put aside and to replace door interim Mark Meckler.

CloudRoute LLC now provides the hosting and Amazon S3 has been replaced by open source software Ceph.

Existing users can log in again, but all their messages have been deleted.

Whether full use will be made of Parler again remains to be seen. For example, the mobile apps are not available for the time being. Apple and Google say that a lot needs to be done if they want to include the Parler app in the App Stores again.
