Exceptions to the 14-day isolation after arrival in Slovakia are divided into three groups.
From Wednesday (February 17), Slovakia is abolishing the list of less risky countries and the possibility of crossing the border with a 72-hour RT-PCR test for COVID-19.
At the same time, the country is introducing a mandatory 14-day isolation upon arrival in Slovakia, and the person should be tested by RT-PCR test no later than the eighth day. The Decree of the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic also brings some exceptions concerning quarantine. TASR was informed about this by the spokesperson of ÚVZ SR Daša Račková.
“Persons who have visited exclusively EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the last 14 days are ordered to be isolated. The subject is tested by PCR at the earliest on the eighth day of isolation. If a negative test result is obtained, the isolation is terminated. If the person did not take part in the testing and has an asymptomatic course of isolation, he / she will end after 14 days, “ approaches Račková.
Compulsory isolation also applies to those who have visited other countries in the past two weeks.
In this case, the person tested by the PCR method at the earliest on the eighth day of isolation can only be terminated by receiving a negative test result.
“It can’t be terminated without testing.” points out Račková. Children under the age of ten should only be tested if the attending physician so decides. The insulation will end at the same time as the other members of the common household.
ÚVZ SR also reminds that when returning to Slovakia it is necessary to register at http://korona.gov.sk/ehranica. Those who arrive in Slovakia are required to fill in an electronic form.
Returning citizens should not forget to inform their attending physician or the locally competent physician of the self-governing region.
Three groups of exceptions
Exceptions to the 14-day isolation after arrival in Slovakia are divided into three groups. They apply, for example, to commuters in neighboring countries, students, carers, landowners, the cultural community or news and media production.
A category is being added for a defined circle of athletes in the training process or participation in professional competitions with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport (MŠVVŠ) SR.
The second group of exemptions concerns people with a specific regimen, namely commuters in the EU, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Iceland and the United Kingdom, people who have overcome COVID-19 and people who have also been vaccinated with a second dose of the vaccine more than 14 days.
Exceptions to isolation and demonstration with a negative test still apply, for example, to freight crews, rescuers, funeral services, critical infrastructure, people in need of treatment or diagnosis. More detailed conditions for crossing borders in such cases are defined in the decree.
Slovakia is tightening the border regime in connection with new mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The mutations have led to a worsening of the epidemiological situation in the areas in which they have spread.
It is a step to curb the number of illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths. Hygienists recommend that good consideration be given to each purpose of the trip abroad, a trip for recreation is not recommended.
