In the future, the user-friendly and practical details will be joined by sustainable materials, as the latter are also an important part of the vision of the future predicted by the Škoda Vision 7S study. The car, which anticipates the brand’s new image, will be the last of the 3 new models built on the MEB basis in the coming years, in 2026, before which a small passenger car and a compact recreational vehicle will also be launched. The full electric transition will have to wait a little longer, as the new generation Superb and Kodiaq will be presented in the second half of 2023, and the Octavia will receive a comprehensive update in 2024.
The new details were created by further developing the current design world, first of all there is the Tech-Deck Face, which replaces the traditional radiator grille, and the various sensors of the driver support systems are hidden behind the wide and flat glass panel. Among the 7 openings located at the bottom, the orange panel that fills the middle is actually the disconnector for the high-voltage battery. It can’t be seen, but the streamlined design also includes a fully tiled floor, and a new feature is the ventilation opening on the door sill that dissipates the heat of the battery pack. The front and rear lights are no longer C and D, but a T-shaped arrangement. The minimalist appearance also includes improved aerodynamics, the latter of which is also necessary in order for the study to reach a range of over 600 km in its 89 kWh battery, and lightning charging is possible with a power of 200 kW.
The appearance of the interior was also simplified, which was helped by digitization. An 8.8-inch display behind the two-spoke steering wheel provides information, while the central touchscreen has a 14.6-inch display. Below this, on the console between the seats, there are also 3 rotary switches, of which the extreme ones can be used to adjust the climate on each side, and the middle one can be used to control the head unit. By default, the central display is positioned at the edge, in which case it is easy to handle. In the Relax mode, which can be selected in a vertical position, it turns horizontal and moves back together with the dashboard – this arrangement is ideal, for example, for watching TV programs, which can be used to bridge the charging time. In this case, the front seats turn a little inwards so that the people sitting in the back can also see the monitor clearly. Since the touch screen and the central control are far away from the passengers in this case, the vehicle can be controlled with the related application in Relax mode.
The Czechs crown their offer with the family car with 3 rows of seats, and there are new, practical ideas in this area as well. The rear-facing child seat can be placed on the console that continues between the rear seats, so that the people sitting in the second row can always keep an eye on the child, the dedicated camera for the people sitting in the first row helps with this. As part of the mood lighting, for example, a light behind the windshield that informs the battery charge at a glance was implemented. The interior of the Škoda Vision 7S uses sustainably sourced materials throughout, for example, the floor is made from recycled tires, the fabrics are made from recycled polyester fibers, and otherwise synthetic leather and plastics from renewable sources are used.
