Skoda Slavia, the sedan that has no chance to reach Europe – VIDEO-PHOTO

Following the launch of Kushaq, Skoda is set to unveil the second model of its product campaign for the Indian market later this year.

The latest model from the Czech car manufacturer, Slavia, completes the sedan range. The model offers generous amounts of interior space and two TSI engines. In addition, there are a number of comprehensive safety features that include up to six airbags and numerous assistance systems. The Volkswagen Group is investing one billion euros in the INDIA 2.0 project led by Skoda Auto.

At the base of the Slavia model is the MQB-AO-IN platform specific to the Indian market. Slavia measures 4,541 mm long, 1,752 mm wide and 1,487 mm high. It also has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm, which means it is shorter than the wheelbase of Skoda Octavia sold in markets around the world.

Buyers will have two engines at their disposal. At the base of the range is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI engine with 113 hp, while customers who want more power can opt for a 1.5-liter TSI 4-cylinder engine with 148 hp. The latter uses technology that stops two of the cylinders during low engine loads. Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission that powers the front wheels.

Skoda Slavia, built in India for India

“With the new Skoda Slavia we continue our campaign within the INDIA 2.0 project. Following the KUSHAQ model – which is highly valued by Indian customers for its robust construction, safety, quality and excellent value for money – Slavia will meet all these aspects and set new benchmarks in terms of design and performance in its segment Says Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Skoda Auto.
