Simion made an abuse and did not win any votes

The president of the PSD, Marcel Ciolacu, declared that the protest organized by the AUR, on Wednesday, in front of the Parliament represents an “abuse” of the leader of the formation, George Simion, specifying that the members and sympathizers of this party “copy” the behavior invented by the USR.

“At all these events, you have seen, the Romanian flag is used a lot. A serious thing, because we throw the Romanian flag into a mockery, we also put the symbols of the parties on the Romanian flag. It seems to me that there is also a law in the Parliament and maybe we vote it as soon as possible, so that no one puts any sign on the Romanian flag. Second, they copy what the USR invented. Remember, these demonstrations were also inside the Parliament and carried out in the street by the USR. This behavior is copied. This behavior does not lead to anything good. First of all, it is the Parliament’s attribute to legislate, to vote. There are debates in committees. If you attack the parliamentarians, then the commissions will be held online and there is no longer any danger of physical aggression”, stated Ciolacu, in a televised show.

The PSD leader believes that AUR’s approach was “manipulation”.

“I think it’s a big manipulation. My phone number was also sent to me by other people. ‘Call Ciolacu!’ and I say: ‘If you don’t mind, it’s my number,'” Ciolacu added, reporting that he talked to the person who called him and who confessed that he had not read the law, but that he learned from social media that “we would steal the children”.

He stated that the PSD was involved, through Senator Titus Corlăţean, in the recovery of some Romanian children from abroad.

“We will never accept something like this (separation of children from their families – no). It is a milestone caught in the PNRR, it has passed, many amendments have been made, because they always present what the actual law was like. Afterwards, everyone forgets about the changes. It is a political style, some parties work like that, with manipulation and intoxication of some people. (…) We won this right, and I, and you, and our children, to go out and demonstrate in the streets and I care a lot about this right. It’s a long way to violence,” Ciolacu said.

According to the PSD leader, at the protest “there were no major problems” and “the limits were not exceeded”, but he considers those who resort to violence to be guilty.

Marcel Ciolacu mentioned that he has an institutional communication with the AUR president, but a dialogue with the AUR leader has not been established.

“In order to establish a dialogue, both parties must want it. It is much easier to bring accusations and make a circus, as was done today, without arguments. We are still a young democracy. (…) It would be time to enter a normality and a consolidated democracy. (…) What Mr. Simion did today is an abuse. My opinion is that he did not win any votes from this demonstration. On the contrary, those who came to the Parliament today will see in a month, two, five that no child is stolen”, Ciolacu emphasized.

He expressed himself against the request of deputy Alexandru Muraru to outlaw AUR, but stated that everyone has the right to their opinion.

Among the reasons for the AUR protest in front of the Parliament on Wednesday is the draft law on the organization of the activity to prevent the separation of the child from the family. The Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Wednesday, the normative act that provides, among other things, the establishment of the National Children’s Observatory.
