Instead of 80 Plus, SilverStone’s new power supply is Cybenetics Platinum-certified and equipped with e.g. With NVIDIA’s 12-pin auxiliary power connector.
SilverStone, best known as a case manufacturer, has released new blood to the power supply market. Exceptionally, the new power supply of more than 2 kilowatts in the Hela series does not carry any 80 Plus certification at all, but is certified by Cybenetics.
The SilverStone Fitting 2050 is, as the name implies, a 2050 watt power supply. As a Cybenetics Platinum certified power supply, it promises 89-91% efficiency regardless of load. In addition, the power supply is Cybenetics Standard + certified for silence, which in practice means a maximum noise output of 35-40 dB (A).
The power supply is fully modular and equipped with flat cables and Japanese capacitors. Comes with one 20 + 4-pin ATX power connector, two 4 + 4-pin processor auxiliary power connectors, four straight PCIe 6 + 2 pins and as many as seven branched PCIe 6 + 2-pin auxiliary power connectors, one with three Molex and one floppy cable, three four-connector SATA power cable, and finally one NVIDIA 12-pin auxiliary power connector.
The Hela 2050 power supply is cooled by a 135 mm double ball bearing fan that can be switched to semi-passive. In semi-passive mode, the power supply fan only starts at loads above 800 watts. The protection line of the power supply complies with current standards: overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, overpower protection, short circuit protection and protection against overheating.
The strategic dimensions of the SilverStone Hela 2050 are 150 x 86 x 180 mm and 4.34 kg. The power supply will be available by the end of the year and although the price is not yet certain, it is expected to settle around $ 600.
