Signing a new contract, Marquinhos in PSG uniform until 2028

Suara.com – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) captain Marquinhos has extended his contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2028.

“The 29-year-old defender from Brazil will continue his adventure with the Red and Blue until June 30, 2028,” said PSG’s official website, Friday (19/5/2023).

After graduating from the Corinthians academy, the Sao Paulo-born defender joined PSG in July 2013 at the age of 19 following his performances with AS Roma in the 2012/13 season.

During his nine seasons in Paris, Marquinhos has won seven French League titles, six French Cups, six League Cups and seven French Super Cups.

“I’m happy to sign the contract extension, and proud at the same time,” said Marquinhos.

“This is a special moment for me. Paris Saing-Germain has always shown faith in me, and I also have great faith in this club.”

When Lionel Messi was about to leave the club and there was speculation about the future of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the decision to keep Marquinhos was welcomed by the club.

“This is good news for the club, for me as a coach but also for the fans,” said Christophe Galtier.

“this is an example. He is about to finish his tenth season. He is one of the best centre-backs in the world… It is a strong signal for everyone.”

PSG have already fallen out of the Champions League trophy race after falling to Bayern Munich in the last 16, but they are one step away from winning the Ligue 1 title for the ninth time in 11 years.
