Seventh in a row SICEF Hakaton was held from November 5 to 7, 2021 in the Science and Technology Park Nis. It was an international twenty-four-hour programming competition, in which eight teams of four members each participated.
The topic of the 7th SICEF Hackathon was “Contribution to preventing the spread of COVID-19”, while the topics of previous years were applications to help refugees and improve study conditions, digital medical assistance, applications for agriculture, etc. The task of each team was to design an application in personally selected technology, which corresponds to the given topic and present it to an expert jury.
The jury consisted of the representative of the company MVP Workshop Mališa Pušonja, the representative of the company Better Collective Srebrenko Pešić, the representative of the company Cubic Dimitrije Mišić, the representative of the Science and Technology Park Niš Miloš Grozdanović. Four lectures were held for the contestants in order to learn something new and get acquainted with the problems of Hackathon. The first lecture was “gm, web3” by MVP Workshop, then “Gaming industry – decoded” by Webelinx Games, “Tech Stack, technologies and ways of working in Better Collective” by Better Collective and the last lecture was given by Miloš Grozdanović from Naučno -technological park Nis called “Technological Entrepreneurship”.
The winner of this year’s SICEF Hackathon is the “Pizza Burek” team, consisting of students from the Technical Faculty in Rijeka, while “Mag” from the Faculty of Computer Science in Belgrade and “4K” from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad won second and third place, respectively. For the first three
valuable prizes were provided to the team. The first team won 50,000 dinars, the second-placed team won 30,000 dinars, and the third-placed team won 20,000 dinars.
“I am very glad that we successfully held the seventh SICEF Hackathon in somewhat difficult conditions, but with adherence to all prescribed protection measures against COVID-19. As the topic was related to COVID-19, the result of this competition are eight fantastic applications and ideas that would accelerate the way out of this crisis. I would especially like to thank the competitors from Croatia who have come a long way to get to Nis and won first place. ” – said Miodrag Janic, President of SICEF.
Other sponsors this year were Ingsoftware, Quantox Technology, Fazi & Triple Crown and Zuhlke. At the Hackathon, in addition to the much-needed internet and separate offices, the contestants were provided with food throughout the competition, as well as a fun room to relax and get new ideas.
The main organizer of Hackathon – SICEF (Student Innovation Center of the Electronic Faculty in Nis) is an organization that was formed to contribute to the study, training of students of technical faculties and popularize the profession of engineers.
